I'm Mimi and Jim T., the breeder behind Silverado Basset Hounds located in Arizona. We are experienced breeders, owners and handlers in the sport of purebred dogs and we take our role seriously. We keep a variety of factors in mind when reeding our dogs, including AKC Conformation titles, health and testing, temperament, pedigree, and complementary traits, so that puppies can inherit the best of both parents. We breed sparingly and have a waiting list for future litters. A 2023 litter is expected at the end of December.
Q. & A. with Mimi and Jim
Why did you start breeding?
We started breeding bassets as a natural progression following showing our dogs to championship status. This was followed by becoming AKC judges and mentors of the breed. We have judged bassets at specialty and all-breed shows in many states in the US and at the BHCA National Specialty.
What makes your program special?
We breed sparingly. We breed the best in our kennel - we health test for basset issues. We are confident that our puppies are healthy and sound.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
