I'm Samantha S., the breeder behind Skinner Hill Farm located in Whitakers, NC. We raise our dogs with love in our home. We have high expectations for our pups and strive to pair each one with a loving family. We are home-based breeders dedicated to bringing healthy, loving, and high-quality [Australian Shepherds ] into the homes and hearts of their forever families. We love our dogs and are passionate about raising our puppies to be the best family companions.

Why did you start breeding?
I seriously got into breeding by looking for a male to breed to a mini Aussie I had at the time. Cindy Taylor, with Taylor Made Aussies of Cherokee NC, took the time to mentor me and helped me get my program up and running. I give her all the credit🙌What makes your program special?
The only thing that makes our farm special is the fact that we treat all of our dogs like our own pets. They are raised, not in cement poured kennels, but they have the freedom to live on the fresh grass pastures with shade trees, that were created for them.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Samantha
Samantha has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

"Our prices depends on which breed of dog we have available. $300 deposit required. Deposit will be applied to the total cost. Balance due at time of pick up."

Parent health testing
Great level
Skinner Hill Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
