I'm Ellen & Phillip S., the breeder behind Slayton's American Bulldogs located in La Porte, IN. We are pet owners first and foremost. All of our puppies are raised as members of our family until they’re ready to join yours. We do our best to breed with total care by primarily focusing on raising healthy, affectionate, and loyal companions. As a result of our efforts, we’re positive our puppies will become perfect family members and add just as much joy to your life as they have ours! We welcome and love video calls.     The love and preservation for the breed. American bulldogs are the best.

  • What makes your program special?

    They are not just animals. We cut every cord tare every sak. We're there with our momma's every second until the last pup is born. Our momma's are queens. We put alot of time and effort to ensure the parents are healthy and well taken care of . We work hard for our dogs and our pups

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Ellen & Phillip partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $900 non-refundable deposit and between $1,900 - $2,100 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • 2,8-Dihydroxyadenine (2,8-DHA) Urolithiasis, DNA Disease Panel, Ichthyosis, American Bulldog Type, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 10 (NCL10), American Bulldog Type

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Ellen is a superstar breeder!! I have had several American Bulldogs & none of them have had such loving & attentive care from day 1! Ellen sent photos of mom even before the first puppy arrived; her “birthing box” was like a spa room, with a big pregnancy pillow, warming lights & a safe, large enclosed space where mom could feel comfortable bringing her babies into the world. She face timed me as they were being born so we could watch; it was AMAZING!! We KNEW our baby the moment she arrived, she was born 4th & we just felt she was meant to be ours. ❤️ We were hoping for an all/mostly white one & our Raven was THE ONLY white one in the dozen!! She looks exactly like her mama, with one black “Raven’s wing” by her right eye 😍 Ellen kept us informed several times a week with updates & more than tolerated my “new mom” nervousness (this is the youngest puppy we’ve ever had & wanted to have everything perfect for her arrival & growth). Ellen is so kind, caring& patient & kept that kennel of 12 puppies so clean & had the brilliant idea to mount the water buckets to the sides of the enclosure to allow for fresh drinking water at all times without the chaos of them constantly getting knocked over! 👏🏼 There were some issues with transportation (due to unforeseen changes in the circumstances of the transporters). Ellen stayed on the phone with me for HOURS until we were able to find someone to trust to bring our girl all the way to AZ! That is truly above & beyond care for her puppies & their prospective homes & families!! Even after further unforeseen travel issues (in which Ellen even got involved to assist me in keeping track of Raven & communicating with us & them daily, as the transport team wouldn’t respond to me!) ELLEN made sure that our baby girl got to us!! Even after all the travel issues, the puppy we received was still the same smart, loving, funny, sassy stubborn, beautiful girl that we had watched grow up from day one!! That kind of resilience & confidence in a 8 week old puppy, despite adversities, doesn’t just happen, THAT comes from KNOWING she is loved & constant dedication from the very beginning!! Ellen, we do not have the words to describe our gratitude for ALL that you have done for our precious girl who will be our loving companion for many years to come!! If you are looking for someone who raises not only good looking pups but those with loving, confident personalities, look no further; they DO NOT make breeders like Ellen!! 🎉❤️ THANK YOU!!

    Ellen and Phillip have been absolutely amazing to work with! From start to finish they’ve provided tons of updates, including lots of pictures and videos, which made the whole process so exciting. They even offered FaceTime calls so we could check in on the puppies along the way. I was also able to visit my puppy in person at 4 weeks old, which was such a great experience. Highly recommend them — caring, communicative, and truly dedicated to their pups! 🐾
