I'm Heather E., the breeder behind Smith’s Schnauzer Den located in Trinity, TX. Each of our dogs has brought so much happiness to us throughout their lives. We want to do our part to produce wonderful, healthy pups that can bring other people joy as well, and we strive to provide each of our puppies with loving homes where they can live happy lives. Our pups are raised in home.
Q. & A. with Heather
Why did you start breeding?
There’s not quite enough space to put all of the reasons we got into breeding, but our main focus has been providing each family with well socialized and training pups. Ones that you pick up and they know they belong to you without being timid! Ones that are easily adjusted and reinforced with training. Our return families and referrals speak volumes about our program and we couldn’t be happier.
What makes your program special?
We put a ton of time and effort into our pups. The one of the biggest compliments we get is how well our puppies are started on potty training. We start training very early so a good foundation is built. Our puppies are also well socialized and acclimated to sounds and people of all ages. You won’t get a scared or timid puppy from us. Our pups are happy and ready to give love and companionship.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Cocker Spaniel puppies include black white and tan, black and white, sable and white, sable, brown white and tan, brown and white, buff, black and tan, black, brown and tan, and brown. Miniature Schnauzer puppies include wheaten, white, salt and pepper, black and silver, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Heather was wonderful to work with. She kept me updated as my baby girl grew, and when the day came she did everything possible to make the pickup smooth. My girl Lexi is now 4 months old and is healthy, happy, and has responded so well to the training we have done with her. I don’t know much about dog breeding but I think Heather and her family must provide the right balance of affection and stimulation for their dogs. My Lexi has been loving and eager to socialize from day 1 and has never been one that scares easily, or shows aggressive tendencies. I think this speaks to the quality of the dog and the experience in their early weeks of life.

Heather was so great, from communicating about the puppies to sending updates on our baby boy before we got to pick him up!

Heather was very responsive and helpful through the adoption process. She was readily available to answer our questions and even helped obtain the puppy medical records when we switched vets.
Our pup, Maverick, is such a good dog. Heather did a fantastic job making sure he was sensitized to social settings and hair cuts. Overall, he is one of the best dogs I’ve owned. He’s such a blessing to our family, and I can’t thank Heather enough!
