About Betsy
SoCal-Bernedoodle’s Betsy Bloom (Mini F1 Bernedoodle) Betsy Bloom is a mini F1 Bernedoodle. An F1 Bernedoodle is a first-generation cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, and the "F" stands for filial, which means "of or relating to a son or daughter". The number after the "F" indicates the generation of the hybrid. Betsy Bloom came to us from Porter Country Kennels in Karlstad, Minnesota. Her mother or “dam” was Paris, an AKC registered Bernese Mountain Dog, while her father or “sire” was Django, an AKC registered miniature poodle. Bernedoodles like Betsy are known for being fun-loving, loyal, and easygoing. Betsy is no exception! At 3 years old, she's always up for a game of fetch or a cuddle on the couch, and our girl loves, loves, loves, the beach. Betsy weighs 40 pounds, and stands 24 inches tall at the withers. She is a black & tan tricolor F1 bernedoodle. Embark DNA Test Results: CLEAR. Betsy is expecting puppies with an AKC registered standard poodle, which means Betsy Bloom’s puppies will be F1B Bernedoodles. An "F1b Bernedoodle" refers to a second generation Bernedoodle. The "F" stands for "filial" (meaning offspring), “1” indicates first generation, and “b” means “backcross”. Together the "1b" indicates that this upcoming litter is the result of breeding a first-generation Bernedoodle ("F1") with a purebred Poodle, essentially making the F1b pup 75% Poodle and 25% Bernese Mountain Dog; this "backcross" with a Poodle usually leads to a more hypoallergenic, low-shedding coat compared to a standard F1 Bernedoodle.
