SolarStorm Australian Shepherds is a small preservation-focused program dedicated to producing sound, stable, and versatile Australian Shepherds. Why did you start breeding?
My interest in breeding started after years of working with Australian Shepherds in training, sports, and everyday life. I wanted to create a program centered around stable temperaments, sound structure, and thoughtful puppy raising. Watching well-bred dogs thrive as both competitors and companions inspired me to begin building my own program.What makes your program special?
What makes my program unique is the combination of hands-on behavior knowledge and real experience living with and competing with Australian Shepherds. I raise a small number of litters so each puppy is individually evaluated and matched carefully. My goal isn’t just beautiful dogs, but dogs that can genuinely succeed in busy real-world lives.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, red, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Sarah

Sarah partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Brucellosis, Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
