Lisa P.

Breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs

Meet the breeder

I'm Lisa P., the breeder behind Something Special Ranch, Shelties located in Flagstaff, AZ.

Q. & A. with Lisa

  • Why did you start breeding?

My parents bred Black and Silver Miniature Schnauzers and rabbits while I was young. At 9 I was in 4-H showing and breeding the dogs, arabian horses and satin and lop rabbits since 1975. 4-H programs in Washington State emphasize proper breeding to standards as well as the animal being capable athletes. As 4-H livestock ambassadors we were taught - it's not enough to be pretty- but it sure helps.
  • What makes your program special?

I look for ways to recreate a healthy- in standard Sheltie that looks like Lassie.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle white and tan and black white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
