I'm Kelsey B., the breeder behind South Dakota Creekside Australian Shepherds located in Bison, SD. We breed our Aussies to help enrich and bring joy to other peoples lives, like our dogs have done for us. Our dogs are bred for gentle temperament, healthy genetics, loyal companionship, and athletic dogs that are ready and willing to be by your side through any adventure, ride, or sitting next to you on the couch.
Q. & A. with Kelsey
Why did you start breeding?
I had a strong desire to raise well-bred, well-mannered, loyal dogs in the right way with plenty of attention, love and care.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs are our family; therefore they will be treated with the utmost respect in regards to breeding and raising them. We raise the puppies to be exposed to many different animals, sights, and sounds here on our ranch and they accompany us on our trips to town. We expose them to our large family to keep them well socialized. We also take them on our trips to hike in the black hills, to town for ice cream, and trips to Runnings.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Scarlet
My sweetest Scarlet. This girl is my soul dog. Shes SO laid back, beyond gentle, and the most attentive dog I’ve ever met. She is always by my side, or my kids side, whether that be in a vehicle, out in the yard, or on the couch, she’s happiest everywhere. She has a perfect medium length coat. It’s a really thick coat that has some curl to it on her back, and a lot of body to her coat. She is the total package.

Otis, dad
Australian Shepherd
About Otis
ASDR registered. The most personable, loyal and easily trained dog I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and owning. He is my right hand man whether it be on any walk/hike, riding in the tractor with me, accompanying me in town and not needing a leash and stays by my side, and so much more. I could talk about him for days on end, if you have any questions, just ask!
Gus, dad
Australian Shepherd
About Gus
This is my father-in-law’s dog. This is one super cool dog. Gus has been an old soul since we got him at 9 weeks old. Calm, cool, attentive, and one heck of a worker. Has phenomenal head and heel to him, and excellent off switch. When he’s working he goes until the job is done, and when you say you’re done, he is calm and content to sit and relax. I can’t stress enough the calm nature, with phenomenal working drive.

Kelsey was incredible, me and my family loved working with her and she was so helpful with all of my questions I had, answering them to the best of her abilities. I love Jango, previously Puppy 4, from Gus and Scarlett. He is soooo smart and attentive. He will be a service dog in his future but he is taking to his training so quickly and he loves to work. Her dogs are well taken care of and most definitely loved.

If your looking to get an Australian Shepherd from a great breeder this is definitely the place. She’s gonna be along for the ride as long as you need her. She really cares about these pups just as much as you and your family will! Let me tell you my experience.
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved dogs. I mean how could you not? They’re so loyal, cute and cuddly! An Australian Shepherd has been my dream dog for many years. Their intelligence and loyalty always blew me away, but since I had never owned an Aussie before there wasn’t many breeders willing to give me a chance. I had done years of research on how to properly take care of an Aussie and give them the life they deserved. When I was ready to give up on my search for my dream puppy after countless “No’s”, Kelsey answered my application on good dog. She was so kind, sweet and welcomed me with open arms to pick the pup I wanted. Throughout the whole process she kept me updated with cute pictures of the pups. Whenever I had a question she answered me in a timely manner as well. I never had to worry. She never rushed me to pick a pup, and made sure I had all the time in the world to pick just the right one for me and my boyfriend. We picked boy #2 or “Rango” who we’ve named Oakley! Oakley has been a dream. Better than I could’ve ever imagined! We had a long drive home after picking up Oakley and I was worried he’d be nervous and stressed the whole time. NOPE. He was a little angel in the car and still is. He’s also amazing when it’s time to settle down at night for bed. He goes right to sleep and sleeps as long as we do, with no accidents! Kelsey also socialized the pups so well! Oakley does amazing around my parents older dog, and he’s never afraid to meet new people or kids. Oakley picked up on his training so quickly too! He already learned sit, lay down, stay and spin in only a week and a half! He bonded with me so quickly and follows me everywhere I go. This little pup has been the sunshine in our life’s for the last couple weeks. He’s just what we needed in our growing little family. Thank you so much Kelsey for trusting us to bring Oakley into our lives when no one else did. We seriously couldn’t have found a better breeder. When I’m ready to get another pup in a couple years she’ll definitely be the person I come straight to, no hesitation! Again thank you a million times Kelsey, and that still doesn’t feel like enough!

I had been contemplating getting an Aussie for three years and decided this summer was the perfect time.
I had been searching for a reputable breeder, which isn’t very easy especially when this breed runs $$$. Chance would have it that a google search led me to the GoodDog site and then Kelsey with South Dakota Creekside Australian Shepards.
From the moment I sent my first inquiry to Kelsey, I could tell she was the breeder I wanted to work with. She answered all my million questions and I could tell she was very experienced and knowledgeable as an Aussie owner and breeder. There was no pressure, only care and concern that her puppy would be going to a loving home. From the moment I placed the deposit to the time I was holding Amigo in my arms, Kelsey was by my side sharing photos and giving me updates. I felt so comfortable getting my puppy and I knew from Amigo’s demeanor that he came from a loving home. He already knew his name thanks to Kelsey using his name once I told her.
Amigo is so loving and it took him no time to get use to me and our house. Easily trainable and very comfortable around people, children and other dogs- that’s all thanks to Kelsey and how she takes care of puppies and their genetics. It’s been nice keeping in touch and sharing updates on my end which gives the breeder and new owner peace of mind.
I’m definitely getting Amigo a buddy next year and going with Kelsey again.
I am so grateful to Kelsey and can’t imagine a life without my Amigo.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
