I'm Riley S., the breeder behind Southbound Kennel located in Leoma, TN. At Southbound Kennels we are proud to offer our high-quality puppies to loving homes. We are very experienced with both Miniature and Standard Dachshunds and are careful to breed and raise our pups with only the best policies. The quality of our puppies reflects the conscious decisions we make throughout every part of the breeding process.

    I started breeding dachshunds when I was very young. I have always lived the breed.

  • What makes your program special?

    We are committed to staying connected to our puppy families throughout their lifetimes to ensure they never feel alone and can raise their new, furry companion with confidence and joy.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include longhaired and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, sable, red, brindle, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Riley

Riley has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Riley partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,200 - $2,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Deposits goes toward the puppy price and are NOT refundable unless puppy dies or have a life threatening health condition in my care. Otherwise deposits are 100% not refundable.”

Contract & health guarantee

Riley may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Full Embark Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I highly recommend Riley and her partners to anyone looking for a new doxie pup. Working with Riley was amazing and you can tell she the real deal! She is extremely knowledgeable, responsive/very communicative throughout the process from start to finish, and accommodating to meeting times, which she was already at the location when we arrived! We drove from OHIO which is a 16 hour round trip and I can honestly say I am willing to make the trip again (although may fly next time). My new Brinny Bear (since she’s a brindle coat) is such a little sweetheart and loving. Her personality is already showing and she loves playing tug a war.     Riley was incredible to work with throughout this entire process. There was great communication all along the way, from my initial inquiries to questions after getting my puppy home. She put up with some waffling from me, and a bizarrely rude flight nanny to ensure that Matilda made it to me safely. Couldn't be happier with the dog. Absolutely beautiful coat and personality tells me she was well cared for, and it has really set me up for success. We're a couple days in and this dog already goes to the door when she needs to use the restroom... she doesn't always wait for me to get to the door, but hey, it's a start. Great experience all around, I want to get this one trained up and come back for a future litter down the line.

    Riley & I began messengering thru Good Dog back in January! We were reaching out to find a sweet baby to fill our home with joy once again, after loosing our standard red, Mr. Carl.
