Meet the breeder

I'm Susan L., the breeder behind Southern Belle Pugs/Pugalittlefoot located in Madison, AL. We are a small enough program that we are able to thoroughly focus on each individual dog and puppy and their needs. We take pride in the time and dedication we give to every litter.

Q. & A. with Susan

  • Why did you start breeding?

Much of my young life was spent learning about birthing animals from my own mom; from puppies to horses. The gift of life is a miraculous process that always leaves me full of wonder. Holding a newborn puppy in my hands while it takes its first breath is an amazing experience I find hard to put into words. For the next two months I care for them along with their momma watching them grow into the sweetest and happiest puppies possible. They are so precious and I am careful to make sure they go to the best homes.
  • What makes your program special?

I feel I have a moral obligation to breed healthy, quality dogs. My dogs look like pugs should look according to AKC standards. Any good breeder will tell you breeding, no matter the breed of dog, is a huge commitment and very very time consuming so we will stay small and only have infrequent litters so our girls have a chance to rest and so do we.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
