I'm Emily L., the breeder behind Southern Breeze Shihtzus located in Benton, AR. Hey! I’m Emily Lovell and I own SBS, I raise Akc registered shihtzu’s alongside my mother in law Tina Lovell who has been raising them for 30 years! We own a grooming salon locally so all of our babies are used to being groomed and well socialized.

Why did you start breeding?
When my husband introduced me to his mom and I met her Shihtzu’s I absolutely fell in love with them and started learning as much as possible! After a couple of years of helping her with hers I got some of my own as well.What makes your program special?
Our adult dogs live inside our home with us and are apart of the family, they get to go with us to work every day, when we run errands etc. They are embark genetic tested and clear and checked by our veterinarian as they grow up and as adults, and even if they had something minor such as skin allergies they do NOT get bred , they get fixed and remain as spoiled house pets!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include cream and white, chocolate, tricolor, black and tan, black, liver, blue, gold, liver and white, blue and white, black and white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
Getting a puppy from Emily
Emily has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
After buyers complete the application and screening process, Emily partners with them to find the best puppy match.
“We have a contract for puppies going to pet homes as well as breeding homes that is looked over , signed and initialed by the potential buyer or you will NOT be able to get a puppy from us. Veterinarian/ groomer references are preferred if you haven’t owned a dog before we have recommendations for both veterinary and grooming care. ”
Price
“Pups fit for pet homes only are discounted to 1,000 Akc pet papers only. Pups that could be breeders or pets start out at 1,500 Akc pet papers or 2,000-3,500 Akc breeding rights depending on type. You may video call us before placing a deposit, NON refundable UNLESS a puppy gets hurt/sick/dies in our care. Deposits are not required if puppies are weaned , you can just come pick them up.”

Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
