I'm Karen K., the breeder behind Southern Gem Yorkies located in St George, SC. Our mission is to raise healthy, happy, adorable Yorkie puppies and connect loving families with their new best friend. It’s been such a pleasure to be able to watch every stage of puppy life! We work hard so our puppies can leave our home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family. Why did you start breeding?
I looked in every shelter around but couldn't find a yorkie. Then I was scammed looking for my first yorkie. I was more upset about not getting a puppy than the money I lost. I had to go out of state to find a legit puppy. So I did breeding research for almost 4 years. Read, talked to vets, talked to other breeders, joined groups and read some more.What makes your program special?
My puppies are raised in my home and treated like a part of the family. They are not objects, they are family. They are loved.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tan and black and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Karen
Karen has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,200 - $3,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“All puppies come with AKC registration form, vet visits, vaccinations, de-wormed, a puppy pack and a pet carrier. Females are slightly more expensive than our males. Deposits are required to claim a puppy and are nonrefundable.”
Contract & health guarantee
Karen may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
