I'm Robyn F., the breeder behind Southern Pearl Doxies located in Kingwood, TX. We are a small family breeder raising healthy, well-loved miniature long-haired Dachshunds. Our puppies are socialized daily, introduced to children and household routines, and begin early potty training. We focus on health-tested parents and excellent care for a great start.
Q. & A. with Robyn
Why did you start breeding?
I fell in love with breeding after adopting a Dachshund that wasn’t ethically bred, which showed me the importance of health testing, research, and thoughtful pairings. Connecting with responsible breeders who shared their passion inspired me to help improve and protect the breed I love.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program is small and family-centered. My dogs are beloved pets first, not a source of income. I focus on raising puppies in my home with lots of care and socialization. Keeping my program small allows me to prioritize health, temperament, and the well-being of every dog.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
