I'm Jennifer B., the breeder behind Southern River Retrievers located in Rome, GA. We are part of the Bred With H.E.A.R.T. program with AKC. Our dogs are bred for drive, intelligence, and athleticism. They excel in hunt tests and in a hunting and family home. We pride ourselves in providing healthy family pets, hunting partners, and hunt test partners.

Why did you start breeding?
When we got our dogs, we decided to train them ourselves to use for duck hunting. We quickly moved from duck hunting to hunt tests. We wanted to make sure we were getting high quality puppies for family and hunt test life.What makes your program special?
We strive to make the breed better each breeding. Before we add one to our program, they are genetically tested and get titles in hunt tests. Our puppies are family from day one. They are handled daily and are around lots of different noises and people from birth. They see a vet every 2 weeks until they go home to make sure they as healthy as possible.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

"The price includes the guarantee, AKC registration, UKC registration (if both parents are UKC), deworming, first round of vaccinations, vet immunization record, food starter bag, and puppy socialization. The deposit is non-refundable unless something happens on the breeder's side. The deposit goes towards the full price of the puppy."

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
