A boutique, in-home program specializing in AKC Longhaired Miniature Dachshunds with exceptional Russian, European & Czech import bloodlines. Our focus is simple: health, temperament, structure, and preservation of the Dachshund we love—while carefully building a program for generations to come.

    To preserve bloodlines that exhibit excellent examples of the breed standard, ensuring these quality traits are passed on safely to future generations.

  • What makes your program special?

    We are committed to preserving the health, temperament, and beauty of breed through ethical breeding practices. We believe quality always comes before quantity, which is why we intentionally keep our program small so each puppy receives the care they deserve. Our puppies are raised in a clean, nurturing environment and introduced early to everyday household sights, sounds, and experiences.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, red, black and tan, and chocolate and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Erin partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“At Southern Sage Dachshunds, our goal is to thoughtfully match each puppy with the family where we believe they will thrive for a lifetime. Puppies are not placed solely on a first-come, first-served basis. We consider each family’s lifestyle, household, experience with Dachshunds, preferences, and goals for their puppy. As our puppies grow and their individual personalities and temperaments begin to develop, we use those observations along with each family’s preferences to help guide the matching process. We welcome preferences for sex, color, coat, and other characteristics, and we will always take those wishes into consideration. However, temperament, health, and overall compatibility remain our highest priorities. Families looking for a puppy for breeding or show potential are evaluated separately, with additional consideration given to pedigree, structure, health testing, genetics, and the goals of the breeding program. Our intention is never simply to place a puppy—we want to create thoughtful, lasting matches between our Southern Sage puppies and their future families. 🐾”

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the guarantee, AKC registration, first round of vaccinations, deworming, and puppy socialization. A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a puppy after an application has been approved and a puppy has been offered to the family. Includes AKC registration.”

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
