I'm Rachel B., the breeder behind Southern Sass Shih Tzu located in Richfield, NC. We’re proud of the healthy, affectionate, and behaviorally well-rounded puppies we raise for other families to love! We raise our litters in our home to help set the foundation for happy and confident puppies to transition well into their forever homes. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to make an impact on each individual puppy!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I have been breeding Shih Tzu for over 20 years. I got my first one in 1997 and fell in love with this breed. They are great family dogs. I wanted to share that joy with other families.

  • What makes your program special?

    I am very selective in my breeding program. I am constantly trying to better the breed and match the AKC standard as closely as possible.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include liver, brindle and white, liver and white, gold and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Rachel

Rachel has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $750 - $1,300 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes AKC registration and vet clearance with first vaccinations and microchip. I have a one-year health guarantee. I will process a refund if something happens before the puppy goes home. I will not process a refund of the deposit if a buyer just changes their mind. I ask that any buyer speaks with me first.”
