I'm Melissa B., the breeder behind SouthernHearts Poms located in Royston, GA. Hello Pom Lover Friend! You have found a hobby breeder who also rescues and always takes pride in each Pom that leaves my care! I am a rare one as I am here for you and your new pup long after the sale is complete! The perfect health & incredible temperament of each pup are just a couple of my goals!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I was given my first lil man as a gift in 2002. I thoroughly fell in love with every aspect of this breed and wanted to be a part of creating a program that will Contribute to improving their long term health, as well as insuring that I produce healthy, happy, social pups that are given an incredible start! It’s important when they depart I am confident they will be loved and cared for.
  • What makes your program special?

    I take great pride in the care of my pups, as well as my adults and clients. There are many different aspects to a successful breeding program and I am determined to do my best at each! I will be here long term for my client as well as my pups! I insure your new baby has the care and training needed to be happy and social and the good health needed to share a great many years as your baby!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream sable parti, orange parti, cream parti, red, orange, cream, black, white, chocolate, beaver, black and tan, blue merle, cream sable, orange sable, tri-colored, chocolate sable, chocolate and tan, and red sable. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Melissa

Melissa has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes health guarantee, two vet visits, first vaccine, worming, multiple aspects of training and socialization, AKC Pet reg., & life-time assistance with training, nutrition, grooming, etc. Deposits are 500-1000.00 Deposit amount depends on age of puppy. Deposits are non-refundable. Wait list deposits are credited toward your puppy purchase once you decide on a puppy.”

Melissa may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Full Embark Panel, DNA Coat/Trait Panel, DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
