I'm Sarah M., the breeder behind Squirrelytail Farms located in Spartanburg, SC. My intention is to preserve the old working lines and raise health, well rounded puppies. We raise AKC/ASCA working pups as well as some ASDR, lower energy family pets.
Q. & A. with Sarah
Why did you start breeding?
For as long as I can remember my goals in life were to be a wife and mother, and then a breeder. I did the research and my mom got my first dog with the intentions breeding when I was 14. I had 2 gorgeous Irish terriers. 2 years later an old farmer gave my his Australian Shepherd and I was hooked. At 18 I had my first litter of Australian Shepherds and I haven't looked back since.
What makes your program special?
Starting out young I made many mistakes, however over the years I've learned so much about this amazing Breed. All of my Australian Shepherds are genetically health and trait tested. I've slowing been changing my pack over from pet quality aussies to the old working lines, it's my intention to preserve the lines and raise well rounded working/sport quality Australian Shepherds.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red & white, black & white, black, red merle, blue merle, red, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
