Hope everyone had a fantastic Howl-O-Ween! Pups are eyes open, ears open and personalities are starting to shine! I'll be updating individual profiles shortly but wanted to give an in depth look at what they'll be working on this week. 🐾 Motion: As the pups start to orient themselves in the world with newfound sight and sound we work on motion to develop their balance, equilibrium and inner ears to later hopefully offset any potential motion sickness . 🐾 Sensory: sudden movement, sounds, stronger smells and activity help develop their tolerances and curb any overactive fearful mindsets. 🐾 Tummy time: pups have officially moved out from the secluded whelping corner into the playpen where they can explore things like teething rings, toys, tunnels, pillows, thin bricks and wood ramps all to help them hone their motor skills. 🐾 Water: while pups are dominantly on milk introductions to shallow pans of water help not only introduce them to water as a part of life but encourages them to start drinking early giving momma a break from hungry vs thirsty and setting the stone for her to start spending more time away from them. 🐾 Nail trimming: these puppies have some INCREDIBLE nails at this age and momma direly needs us to nip, file and get them to a safe level. This is also when we start introducing vibrations and slight pressure in hopes that it helps pups on the long path of grooming tolerance so their future groomers are blessed with good dogs too

Today we got our colors! It was a early morning photo shoot and will be. A bit before profiles are officially updated but wanted to share here for a minute while I was on to answer messages. All pups are doing fantastic, with some already straining to open their eyes and see the world. A few pups stand out in their own ways and I can't wait to date them with you!

This week the pups are starting to get fully integrated into the routine on the farm. No more going from the inside puppy pen to the outside puppy pen only. We've started expanding our journeys around the livestock, around the gardens and separate yards, up and down the back steps and front steps which are ironically less dangerous than the back steps but seem more intimidating to the pups for some reason. We are coming along great for crate training, mild regression on potty training has started to fall back in line. We've entered the weary and cautious phase of puppyhood where they were on the side of caution instead of rushing headfirst which helps a ton when exposing them to new situations, areas or experiences. We're aiming to have everyone get familiar with staying close off leash, working on eye contact and keeping pups trained up not to wander beyond eyesight preferably in a 50 foot radius of us with lots of work on personal names and recall to better shape their recognition and obedience. The goal this next week is to also be keen on staying out of roadways with the use of a lightweight pull behind cart going by at varying speeds on the roadway to teach pups that roadways are a place of vigilance and risk. The cart is pulled by rope or lightly pushed from behind and meant to spook the pups into avoiding roads and wheels all together. This same cart shuttles them across larger terrains on the farm when the were smaller so it simultaneously helps ease them into car rides early on. Helping keep the balance between safety IN and OUT of vehicles. We will progress to a slower ATV with a cardboard puppy guard that goes a whopping 5mph, just fast enough to keep pups attentive and weary of roadways when they get a bit bigger. All in all enjoy the autumn cool down as well as these cute pics and videos to celebrate the increasing bravery of these little titans.

If responses are delayed the next two days it's because we're drowing in the aftermath of an enormous project on the farm 🙏 myself or xhad usually checks at the start of the day, lunch and end of the day ;) Some fun updates! Their eyes are open and are crawling, turning to walking very quickly. This litter means business. Weekly pupdate will be Wednesday. Would love feedback on how i could make these more inclusive, more videos? The least favorite part of puppies is registration paperwork 🤣 heres to hoping these all get submitted and back to us before they go home 🙏 going to have a lot of fun extras to send home with this litter, too 🐾 Thanks again to everyone following along.

🐾 Week 2 🐾 Vet day hs come and gone with flying colors. Everyone is coming along great innweoght, size and development. It was a busy day as EVERYONE, including 2 barn cats, had to see the vet for this that, or the other on routineservices. It's been a long day 🤣 but we wanted to share a quick pupdate regardless. Individual puppy profiles will be updated this afternoon/evening when we've caught up with farm chores. Deposit day is tomorrow 👏 thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting. A number of you have your deposits waiting to go through already, and our breeder portal only lets us set the date meaning as early as midnight mountain standard time. This is a forst for us to have SO many in line for pups waiting to place deposits, so this will be a quick go around! 😲 When placing your deposit, please list which pup you are aiming for. As a reminder, we match pups in order of deposit received, so if your deposit is too late for the pup of your choosing, you can absolutely choose a different pup. If no more pups are available, you are welcome to roll it over for the next litter, or it will be refunded. (Deposits are non refundable once a pup is reserved for you.) AS A REMINDER, we are planning a pairing for echo x moose to accommodate the many families who will lilely not be able to claim a pup. This pairong is planned for a late october born and a go home before the new year. If you would like to wait for that litter in order to have a better chance at selecting a pup, now is the time to have us roll your applications over to the waitlist. Otherwise, good luck and keep in mind that every person able to place a deposit today is a fellow family that has submitted an application that met our screening standards. We are so humbled to be able to place pups in some of these amazing homes. 👏

🐾 Week 5 pupdate 🐾 Happy Easter, everyone! This last week was a big one with tons of new experiences and adventures. So far this week, we've started on transportation training. Working up from being carried to wagon rides and soon a full car trip! We've worked on sensory exposure by smells, sounds, and sights as well as an introduction to the rest of the pack to guage social development. We had our first grooming experiences with a bath, towel dry, blow dry, teeth, and nails. We've started eating and teething and started developing our own unique personalities and playstyles. We've buddied up with our favorite siblings and started blossoming into the amazing pups we knew they'd be. This upcoming week is a busy one on the farm, and we'll be giving this opportunity to work on isolation and self soothing skills on the pups. Meaning dividing pups betwen play yards, individual crate training, and not hovering over them as much as we have been. This is beneficial to us as we get to our overdue farm projects and beneficial to them by helping them develop self entertaining and self soothing practices. All in all, we hope to see pups that are comfortable with or without us as we know that sets them up for success in households where they need to be alone sometimes without the worry for issues like separation anxiety. Stay tuned for the next update for photos videos and a brief summary of their ups and downs.

Everyone is movin' and groovin' this week, and the name of the game is EXPERIENCES. This week marks the beginning of a lot of things, outside time in the safety of the garden before the plants go in (and so we have time to disinfect, reseed grass and set up their designated puppy play area now that the weather is good), all the new smells, sights, and sounds of the outdoors, our tip toe efforts at slow and small introductions to transportation motion, time away from mom, introduction to puppy porridge, all building up to the biggest experience to come at the end of the week- first bath! Some may ask why we wait this long to bathe, and the answer is simple. Until the pup's eyes and ears become fully functional, the dominant sense is smell, which we aim to preserve as long as hygenically possible. With echo doing a fantastic job of keeping them clean, this has been no issue until the introduction of puppy porridge. As the pups start to nibble on moms food, we introduce a very soft mash for them to eat, which means our potty training race has officially begun. As this stage can be VERY messy, we want to have pups introduced to baths before the worst of it where they potentially will be getting baths twice a day on worse case days. We usually get potty training to the stage where it's typically a bath every other day, but always hope for the best and plan for the worse. At this age, starting off with a BIG experience like a bath is too drastic and an experience from the calm beginnings they've had. So, to offset that, we make a transition building to the bath that takes one of the hardest experiences and makes it flow right along with all the other changes they've taken on over a week long transition. All this week, we're going to take on new challenges, experiences, and other stimuli designed to foster the growth of each pups curiosity, thresholds, and confidence. Keep an eye on each pups individual profiles for next weeks pupdate as we hope to have some specific reports on which pups took well.or poorly to the weeks events and what our tragets are for the week ahead. 🐾 as always feel free to check out our face book group 'Stag Valley BC owners ' for more frequent videos, pics, minor pupdates and interact with other pet parents who have brought our pups home in the last few years. -Shay and Chad

Border Collie
About Jasmine
Our oldest girl and steadfast reliable cowgirl. A powerhouse that always seeks to find a job when out and about with us. A sassy back talker who can get rolled by livestock and come back swinging. Deep bodied, rough coat and a bit more white than your traditional color pallet. Jasmine is one of those dogs who we'll talk about long after she's come ahead to hold the gate.

Border Collie
About Cruiser
Our tried and true hardest worker. Pulling double duty as a stock dog and our night shift lgd Cruiser can be trusted to leave the front yard and patrol for trouble, chase off any rif-raf, and come right back in. We have a few of these amazing heorisms on our surveillance cameras. Never has such a good boy existed and probably never will in our book. Whenever the work needs done he's always ready and always looking for the next job. He's nearing retirement, and we know he'll have earned his right to spend the rest of his days just lounging around. Getting him to do it will be the hard part. Going to have some mighty big shoes to fill when he eventually takes up an eternal job upstairs 🌁 but for now we're happy and grateful every day to have him on our team.

About Kiwi
Stag Valley is proud to introduce Delta (short name kiwi). This spitfire was hand selected by us from the eastern seaboard over the course of many visits. Kiwi has passed our standards for lineage, temperamnet, physical conformation, and behavioral screening via the volhard aptitude test. She brings a lineage of healthy, registered WORKING parents that we are proud to contribute to. Having passed a few of the earliest health tests with flying colors, we have no doubt that as she ages, all future health screenings will be favorable. This little lady is bold and brave with a great social nature, pack dynamic mindset (a rare find as most collies are a do-it-myself kind of dog), and a natural trust in people that told us she would be great alone but woukd be best as a team dog rather than a solo. For this reason, we opted to bring home her half sibling Gidget, who impressed us with her intelligence right away. She meets challenges head-on with plenty of eye contact for direction that has made training so far a breeze! We are happy to say the future looks bright for Kiwi as we plan to proudly integrate her to our program in 2026.

Stag Valley was wonderful during the entire process of getting our pup. Weekly updates were provided. Once home, I was amazed that our pup knew basic commands, alerted me when he needed out, and he knew his name. 😊 You can tell how much they love their dogs and the amount of time they spend with them. Our pup is a blessing!

Stag Valley is great! They are very considerate to new owners, on top of it with documentation, and are communicative. It did not feel like we were going with a breeder and they are well aware that the term "breeder" can bring up some feelings. But they were so impressive and it does not feel like a puppy mill, but people who love the breed, care genuinely for all of the animals they work with and foster into life.

It was my first time working with a breeder, and honestly, I feel so lucky that I came across Stag Valley. You hear horror stories, but I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with them — I even make sure to tell anyone who looks at my puppy how great the experience was. I feel like Stag Valley goes above and beyond to ensure their puppies are happy, healthy, and well-adjusted to just life in general. They do a great job at keeping you up-to-date with the puppies’s growth with both pictures and descriptions of what they’re succeeding at and things that need a bit more work, which they aim to help on before the pup-parents get their best friend. My little girl, Andromeda (Drama), came to me at almost 10 weeks old pretty much potty-trained, sleeps through the night, and already knowing some of your more general commands like sit and even drop it. She adjusted in our home seamlessly from the first night, and I can’t imagine life without her now. Drama is absolutely perfect and will make for one awesome Colorado puppy trekking through the mountains and hanging out on the paddle board.

Stag Valley did a great job with communication and updates on Huck. The pickup was easy and informative and i left with confidence that I could reach out to them with any future issues or concerns. They did an incredible job with Huck before I adopted him. He has plugged right in to our family and is so eager to learn. Couldn’t be happier choosing Stag Valley!

Stag Valley is committed to providing the best possible puppies by ensuring the health of their sire and dam as well as the puppies with vet testing to the handoff to the adoptive parents. They are very knowledgeable and provide photos dueing the process together with comments to communicate puppy progress and personality traits. The socializtion and crate training made our puppy much easier to handle. After the handoff, Stag Valley allows the adoptive parents to call for assitance for several years.

Stag Valley goes above and beyond for their dogs and also for the adoptive parents of their pups. My puppy is a happy, healthy, well adjusted little guy and it’s all because Stag Valley did so much work with him before I brought him home.
