I'm Loretta K., the breeder behind StarBornYorkies, LLC located in Northville, MI. At StarBornYorkies we are a personal at home breeder and show exhibitor of healthy, championed, traditional Yorkshire Terriers. Our goal is to pass on the best of health, temperament and conformation to your family. Our puppy will be your new life-long family member. StarBornYorkies puppies are for pet only homes and go home with a signed spay/neuter contract.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    At first, I just wanted to take my boy to the dog shows and enjoy watching him work to earn his conformation titles. It was there I learned more about the yorkshire terrier and met excellent mentors that guided me to responsibly raising Quality , Healthy bred to standard Yorkshire Terriers.

  • What makes your program special?

    First and foremost our Yorkies are our family. They do not live in kennels, cages confined or poor conditions. They travel with us, go camping, kayaking and swimming, amongst many other activities. They love their twice per day walks and having company over to give them extra love and cuddles. Our goal is to make sure every StarBornYorkie has their best life, with their best family possible.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are blue and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Loretta

Loretta has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,500 - $4,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes, up to date vaccinations, vet records, veterinarian health certificate, microchipped puppy, personalized puppy binder, and a generous essential go home package with puppy's essentials. The puppy purchase price includes a non-refundable Pick Puppy fee of $250.00 and a Puppy Hold fee of $250.00. It will be applied to the total sum of the cost of the puppy. The purchase price does not include Michigan State Sales Tax (6.00%).”

Contract & health guarantee

Loretta may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
