I'm Linda and Leonard K., the breeder behind Starlite Shelties located in Glendale Heights, IL. We are a passionate & dedicated breeding program that produces dogs with excellent working drives, conformation, & temperaments. I am very careful about health, longevity, life span, and broadening the gene pool. Adoptive parents are screened closely and I commit to always being a resource and guide for all of my families who create forever homes for my puppies.

    We wanted to breed high-quality dogs. We believe it is the foundation set by the breeder that determines the well-being of a dog's future.

    We take our responsibilities as breeders very seriously. We devote our time energy and efforts to each litter to ensure sure our puppies are properly socialized from the moment they are born. We are passionate about preparing all of our puppies to excel in his or her forever home.

    They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Excellent level

  • Hip Dysplasia , Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • PRA, Shetland Sheepdog Type, von Willebrand Disease III (vWD III), OFA/CHIC DNA Repository, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
