Q. & A. with Kim
Why did you start breeding?
My parents bred German Shepherds when I was a kid I have a love for all animals but dogs have always been my heart. My intentions have always been to breed. I talked to my vet about exactly what I was looking for and she told me to do some research on Australian Shepherds. I did and was blown away with the stories I read about them. I then bought my first two Aussies I’ve been in love with the breed ever since. I’ve only bred them for 2 years but owned Aussies for 10.
What makes your program special?
I live on a farm. We have cattle, dogs, cats and one donkey. My intentions for my breeding program are to keep this wonderful breed exactly what they were first bred to be. They are a working dog with an unbelievable love for their family. They are funny, they are loyal, smart, agile, and a protector of their family. I never would want to trade any of their born traits. They are exceptional just they way they are. I do all health testing including OFAs but if they don’t have the traits of a true Australian Shepherd I would not breed. I love the mixture of this breed. They can go out and be as tuff as they need to be on cattle and then come in the house and snuggle with us like a couch potato. This is the standard for my breeding program.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
