Q. & A. with Lesley

  • Why did you start breeding?

My daughter Lane bought a doxie, Remi, when we returned to Medina from the NYC area, hence our tag “On, In, Over Medina Lane” homage to Remi, Lane and our home town. Then we added Skidmore, a buddy for Remi. They were separated when she was in heat, but nature took its course! We fell in love with the breeding process and the joy of curating litters and bringing healthy puppies to loving families.
  • What makes your program special?

We love our dogs, and have selected each and every adult with your puppies in mind; we hope we can provide all families with the loving pet or show potential puppy they seek. We have wonderful lines and most have champions in them - but we understand not all puppies are destined for the ring, some are just meant for your hand and heart - as the most “flawless” dog is the one that makes you happy!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, chocolate, brindle, fawn (isabella) and tan, fawn (isabella) and cream, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, blue and tan, blue and cream, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Lesley was absolutely fantastic to deal with. She was so knowledgeable and informative about her dogs she made the process so easy for Churro to settle into his new home. She truly knows what she’s doing breeding all of her beautiful dogs and we are beyond grateful to have worked with her.

Lesley is extremely knowledgeable of the doxie breed. She is great with communication and sending pictures of your puppy. Lesley is extremely particular about the health of her puppies. She will not send them to their new home if there are any concerns or issues. And then the pick up! It was so easy. Lesley met us at the most convenient location. We had a lovely visit where she shared all the pertinent information, paperwork, and a care bag. We highly recommend Lesley. From beginning to end, she was professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Thank you, Lesley!

Lesley was very knowledgeable and responsive throughout the process of finding and waiting for our pup. She made the process seamless and we are so very happy with our handsome little guy. He arrived after a long trip in the van and I was so worried he would be stressed. However, it was obvious he had been well cared for and socialized. He was showing us his personality from day one. I highly recommend Storied Doxies for a healthy pup with an amazing start.

I lost my beloved dachshund Hopper, in December of this year and was heartbroken. I started looking at litters on good dog and somehow connected with Lesley and her litters, as well as others on good dog. I had to be emotionally ready to have a new puppy. I am going on 68 years and have a doodle, BUT, have had a dachshund my whole life. I was waiting for a pup that would be ready to take home in August. I purchased this little guy at not much older than a week, as I saw the parents, beautiful and calm personalities. I look back to all my conversations over the months leading up to my purchase and sound crazy with all my questions. Lesley always answered me and did not get annoyed. I have never purchased a pup at birth, so was nervous... it was wasted energy! I fell in love with Picasso, the moment he entered my life. It has been 3 months now and I have to say, I could not have asked for a more perfect companion. He is just the sweetest, most affectionate dog I have ever owned. I live in NYC and he is not spooked by traffic, bikes, anything! He is so social with dogs, of all sizes. He loves and kisses everybody. He is gentle with my granddaughter and 1 year old grandson. I miss him when I am away. He gets along perfectly with my doodle. I loved working with Lesley and can honestly say that I can not imagine life without my Picasso. Ido have trouble walking him on NY streets though, everyone stops us and wants to pet Picasso or take pictures with him! Thank you for the best gift ever! Love this guy! Sincerely, Jean Bortner

I had a truly wonderful experience working with Leslie to bring home my little puppy Louis! From the very beginning, it was clear that Leslie is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the breed, but also deeply passionate and caring about every puppy she raises. She was consistently responsive, answering all my questions promptly and thoroughly. Louis arrived happy, healthy, and clearly well-socialized, and I couldn’t recommend Leslie highly enough to anyone looking for a miniature longhair dachshund. You can tell these puppies come from a breeder who truly puts her heart into what she does. Thank you, Leslie!
