I'm Emily Z., the breeder behind Sugar and Spice Cockapoos located in Hopkins, SC. We are a small family-run business near Columbia, SC. Our Cockapoo puppies are born and raised in our home, loved and played with by our family and friends, and our goal is always to have them be happy and healthy family companions!

Why did you start breeding?
My grandparents raised Yorkies when my mother was a teenager, but we felt they were too small for many young children. After learning about Cockapoos, we adopted our first, and found the perfect fit! Ever since, I've loved raising our puppies and matching them each with families - sharing that wonderful Cockapoo love.What makes your program special?
We genetically test all of our parent dogs for PRA/PRCD, and bring them for CAER tests on a regular basis. We do genetic (DNA) testing, as well as having our vets perform patella/knee/OFA exams. About Sage
“Sonya Sage” joined us as a puppy from MoonShine Babies in Indiana. She is a beautiful big girl at 26lbs. Sage adores snuggles and getting petted, as well as getting treats and going for walks. Also, no matter how many bowls of water she has available, Sage seems convinced the best water runs directly out of the hose, and loves to try and eat it! Sage had her first litter in 2026, and is an absolute queen, so sweet and protective of her babies.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

My experience with Emily from Sugar and Spice Cockapoos was absolutely incredible. Emily was so responsive and knowledgeable about the breed and she gave me tons of extremely helpful and detailed information about my puppy. You can tell they really LOVE and care so much about their puppies. Emily stayed in touch with me throughout the whole process and sent me regular updates about my puppy.. she even helped my puppy get use to his new name. Good dog made the process of making a deposit and getting ready for my puppy so much easier. Emily and I met in a location that was easiest and stress free for both of us and I truly enjoyed my experience. +8I must share my love and gratitude for Dear Emily - Suger and spice Cockapoos :)! I found Emily on Good Dog website! From our very first text exchange we had until I received my precious puppy - Shemesh , I had such a wonderful experience with her !! She was so responsive and knowledgeable. Our first phone call was 40 min long, I believe. Just feeling the energy and exploring, figuring out if one of her wonderful puppies will be a good fit for me ,my lifestyle and will serve both the puppy and me in the best way . to make sure that he will have the best life !! The application process was wonderful. She answered all of my questions quickly, always kind , sweet and caring , always open and supportive! Her husband kindly brought Shemesh to me on a flight to NY. The process was so smooth , secure , organized, communicative. Overall, I feel so grateful in my heart for meeting them, and for taking such good care of their furry babies. Shemesh came into my life at the most perfect time, and our bond just grows stronger and brighter every day. He is so loving,vibrant, healthy, happy, smart, funny and such a special soul!!
