Meet the breeder

I'm Tobi W., the breeder behind SugarWood Australian Shepherds located in Sparta, TN. I raise quality AKC Australian Shepherds that are well socialized and very trainable. My first ASCA Nationals was 1984 Las Vegas where I took High in Trail. I only breed 1 litter every other year. And always do all the health testing and temperament socialization.

Q. & A. with Tobi

  • Why did you start breeding?

My mentor Amnie Ewing, of Windhill Australian Shepherds, was a great person and I learned so much from her. I had gotten out of breeding after she died, but I know now after going thru my divorce after 33 years of marriage, that she wouldn't want me to quit! So I'm making a come back. So watch for me in the show ring.
  • What makes your program special?

I only have one litter every couple of years and now I'm finally free from the restraints of my past marriage. I'm focusing on my happiness and having a good dog around is the way my life has always been. Only breed quality dogs that are healthy and able to do their job.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
