I'm Sheryl and Scott S., the breeder behind Sundance Retrievers located in Edinboro, PA. Our dogs leave for their families once they are fully trained and NOT as puppies. We are a full time family-oriented breeder and trainers of exceptional Labrador Retrievers. We offer a limited number of breedings each year drawn from exclusive bloodlines, some not previously available in North America, and we sell trained dogs – NOT puppies. At Sundance Retrievers we have some of the top British, Irish and American bloodlines. Our Studs are Field Trial Champions, Field Trial Winners and Master Hunters.
Q. & A. with Sheryl and Scott
Why did you start breeding?
We have over thirty years of gun dog training experience between us.
What makes your program special?
At Sundance Retrievers the human family is important. After we carefully select a female for breeding, she is raised with us and trained as a gun dog or companion dog. Once her training is complete, she leaves our home to go to her host family. Upon confirmation of pregnancy, our breeding females return to our home to whelp the puppies. Once the puppies are weaned their mothers go home to their families. This practice provides our deserving females with wonderful lives. At Sundance Retrievers, we are focused on providing our clients with the highest quality Labrador Retrievers and promise that all of the dogs in our breeding program are AKC DNA certified, AKC registered, EIC, PRA, and CNM clear, OFA eye certified, and have an OFA score rated either good or excellent and/or a PennHip of 50% or higher. In addition, they will have a strong working pedigree and temperaments that are graded against the AKC Canine Good Citizen standard.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Brucellosis, Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
