I'm Sharon M., the breeder behind Sunkyst Golden Retrievers located in Chapin, SC. I am an experienced and passionate breeder, and take this role seriously. I keep a variety of factors in mind when choosing dogs to breed, including health, temperament, pedigree, and complementary traits, so that my golden puppies can inherit the best of both parents.
Q. & A. with Sharon
Why did you start breeding?
I have loved the Golden since a child and obtained my first back yard bred Golden for my children almost 40 years ago. She had severe hip dysplasia by 7 months of age. A friend directed me to a proper breeder shortly after and I became hooked into the show world. I then bred my first litter which had their hip/elbow clearances, eyes and heart and bred to the same. I vowed to be ethical and focus on health.
What makes your program special?
My puppies are wormed preventive against parasites multiple times, they are litterbox trained for easier crate and house breaking in New homes. Live in my home, nose to nose with house dogs, lots of hands on early on. Health is #1!!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
