I'm Heidi R., the breeder behind Sunset Pines Labradors located in Deary, ID. We breed healthy, happy, and versatile Labradors to be your new best friend, hiking and adventure partners, or service dogs. We breed for temperament, confirmation, intelligence, and longevity, with one or two litters each year.

Why did you start breeding?
We have always loved chocolate labs, and so when we were looking for a new female for our family, we knew we wanted one from strong genetic background, fully health tested, intelligent - and we found our Gracie. When she had fully matured and passed all her own health screenings we began the hunt for a suitable stud to help grow our program.What makes your program special?
We are a small scale program, with only 1 or 2 litters per year. This allows us to spend a maximum amount of time with each litter. They are members of our family, grow up in our living room, and have the opportunity to experience the beautiful outdoor Idaho from the time they learn to walk. We take care to produce the best puppies for our buyers.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are chocolate. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

"This includes the cost of the puppy, regular deworming, vaccinations, microchip and veterinary wellness exam. Puppies are sold with limited AKC registration unless previously arranged. All puppies are the same price regardless of gender. Deposit counts towards purchase price."

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Heidi was incredible. She vetted me through the process to make sure Bear was going to a good home. Once we committed to having Bear come home with me, she continued to be great. She gave me incredible insight into how to keep him healthy, proper feeding, even how to grind his toe nails! She has been in contact with me even after I took him home and was open to answering any questions I may have had in regards to Bear. He's been so great, I couldn't have asked for a better puppy to get nor asked for better guidance.
