I'm Briana K., the breeder behind SunSet Ranch Aussies located in Athens, AL. My name is Briana, owner of SunSet Ranch Aussies located in Athens, Alabama. I have been raising Aussies for 10 years and have owned aussies all my life. My main purpose for breeding is to improve the Australian Shepherd breed while also providing families with life long companions.

Why did you start breeding?
My very first Aussie came into my life when I was 6 years old. When he passed I decided to pursue my love for Aussies! After tons of research and picking the perfect match I decided to have our very first litter here at the SunSet Ranch. I had no idea just how much I would grow to love breeding, getting to watch all of our puppies grow, and meeting new owners from all over the U.S..What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Generalized, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 6 (NCL 6), Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1), Hyperuricosuria (HUU), Cone Degeneration, Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), DNA Disease Panel, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
