I'm Alexis M., the breeder behind SunState Labs located in Kissimmee, FL. We strive to provide families with top quality puppies, from their temperaments to their health. We love helping people find the perfect new addition to their family and we’re proud of our reputation as trusted breeders. All our adults are health tested and well cared for. We ONLY breed English Labs. Our pups are very well socialized with all 4 of our kids and are apart of our family! 🥰.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding labs as a hobby because of my love for the breed. I strive to breed healthy, smart, & family oriented lab puppies. All parents are health tested. All of our dogs & puppies are treated as our family.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our puppies are bred into a loving environment. I have kids ranging from 11-4 and they ALL interact with the puppies and dogs. They are very well socialized and nurtured.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Alexis

Alexis has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Alexis partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“Pick selection is done around 6 weeks of age once temperaments are showing. We help match our pups to their families so both the family and the puppy are set up for success. We will help match your pup to you based on your lifestyle & wants/needs. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This price includes AKC registration, FL health certificate, first round of vaccines, appropriate age deworming, microchipped, & 30 days of health insurance. A puppy go home bag is included as well :). A deposit of $500 is required to reserve your puppy. The rest is due at pick up. Our deposits are NONREFUNDABLE. They can be moved to a future litter.”

Alexis may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Parent health testing

SunState Labs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Dentition

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Wisdom Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Alexis stayed in touch the whole time and sent update pictures as Griffin was growing week by week. The time and care she spends getting the puppies ready to go home definitely shows! He came home already knowing to go potty outside and the transition was super smooth thanks to Alexis. At 10 weeks old we’ve already learned quite a few commands, the names of our toys, and established a feeding/playing/sleeping schedule that’s working very well for us! She helped us find the perfect Labrador puppy, and even when we needed to switch to a different litter, she was incredibly understanding, receptive, and helpful throughout the entire process. From the very beginning, Alexis kept us updated with photos of our puppy, so we were able to watch her grow from day one until pickup day. It made the experience feel so special and helped us feel connected every step of the way. Our puppy has settled into our home beautifully.
