I'm Susan H., the breeder behind Susan Harris located in Waterford, CA. We are a small kennel located in Northern California. By understanding the role of a breeder and that breeding is a life long responsibility. We believe it is up to us to make the most informed decisions we can using the health testing available to us. We are happy to share that testing with you. We encourage you to do as much research on the breed as you can. While Aussies are intelligent amazing companions, they do not do well as a dog left alone all day or as a back yard dog. They were bred to be companions and working dogs.

Why did you start breeding?
By understanding the role of a breeder and that breeding is a life long responsibility. I believe it is up to us to make the most informed decisions we can using the health testing available to us. Providing healthy, happy puppies to families is one of the most gratifying life fulfilling things I do.What makes your program special?
When we have puppies available we try to ensure that our puppies are only sold to loving homes. We want to ensure a good match between the personality of prospective owners and our puppies. We evaluate the pups from day 1 and puppies are placed based on a wide variety of things including your preference, temperament, natural instinct, and suitability.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Lakeland Terrier puppies include red grizzle, red, grizzle and tan, grizzle, blue, blue and tan, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Susan
Susan has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Susan partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
“Some of our puppies will be going to show homes. So the litter will be completing their evaluations at 8 weeks. After the evaluations picks will go in the order that deposits are placed and are done in person so you can meet the puppies. If you are looking for a lower drive puppy we will not place a high drive puppy with you. You would not be happy and the puppy would not be happy.”
Price
“This price includes the guarantee, AKC Litter and Individual Registration, Microchip, First Shot and Worming. We do not take deposits until after the puppies are born. This lets us know what we have available. Deposits can be refunded after we find a new home for the puppy you reserved.”

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
