I'm Julie A., the breeder behind Sweet As Pie Doxies located in Gentry, AR. We focus on producing adorable, affectionate Dachshund pups that are healthy and well-tempered. Our mission is to provide you the very best dogs we can, and to select their future home with care.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My husband and I had always wanted to be breeders of Dachshunds. They are such wonderful dogs. When we found our Stella, we were absolutely head over heels for the breed, just like we knew we would be! We wanted to become hobby breeders, not run a kennel, so that we can provide each pup the love it needs and deserves.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our pups live in our home, and are already used to every day lives. Your new pup will go home having been socialized and handled since birth. Each one will have had first shots, dewormer, and vet check.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Julie

Julie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Julie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,600 - $2,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This price includes first vaccinations, deworming, a vet check, as well as all registration paperwork if applicable,, couple toys, small pup blanket with their mama’s scent, and a small bag of food. $300 non-refundable deposit is required for each puppy purchase. This deposit will be applied to the final purchase price.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     Julie was very responsive and transparent about Oscar. She let me know about his health, shots and everything else someone would want to know before adopting a dog. I wanted to wait for nearly a year before I left my review, as probably no one will say anything worthwhile when still in the puppy “honeymoon” stage. Plus, I had to get to know Oscar. He has been an incredible dog with no health issues, and has the sweetest demeanor. He is very playful, vocal, the biggest cuddle bug I have ever known in a dog, and minds very well. Potty training was easy, especially for a dachshund, and he has been a joy to train and knows many tricks. He also travels very well whether in a car, or on a plane. 10/10 would get another dog from Julie if you are looking for a dachshund.

    I have been a life-long Dachshund owner and have gotten my dogs from a variety of sources. It's been a year and a half since losing my 12 y/o Doxie "Bizzy" and I decided it was time to get another one... probably my last pet, as I'll be retiring in just a couple of years. This time around I had some very specific criteria about where I wanted to source my puppy. I wanted to find a caring, knowledgeable, home-based breeder that didn't run a large turn-key operation. I wanted my puppy to be born and initially raised in a private home with a hands-on family, dedicated to giving their pups the best head start possible, with lots of handling and socialization. Of course I also wanted my puppy to begin life with impeccable care. A QUALITY, well-bred puppy was also non-negotiable for me. I'm not interested in any kind of showing or competition, I just wanted a very well-bred, healthy, conformationally-correct, well-socialized puppy. And boy did I hit the jackpot with Sweet As Pie Doxies and Julie Anderson! She and her home set-up were exactly what I was searching for and the quality of her pups (and parents) are stunning examples of the breed. I found Julie through Good Dog and she was so helpful and forthcoming! She responds to your messages super fast, is extremely knowledgeable, and shared photos and videos of my little "Wally" for the few weeks between paying the deposit and picking him up. She even measured him for me so I could pre-order some supplies/clothes for him. I am thrilled with my puppy! My veterinarian even commented at our first visit that his quality was exceptional. He's also very smart and is doing so well with his early training. I have already referred a couple of Dachshund-lover friends of mine to Julie when they are next searching for a puppy.
