I have been a life-long Dachshund owner and have gotten my dogs from a variety of sources. It's been a year and a half since losing my 12 y/o Doxie "Bizzy" and I decided it was time to get another one... probably my last pet, as I'll be retiring in just a couple of years. This time around I had some very specific criteria about where I wanted to source my puppy. I wanted to find a caring, knowledgeable, home-based breeder that didn't run a large turn-key operation. I wanted my puppy to be born and initially raised in a private home with a hands-on family, dedicated to giving their pups the best head start possible, with lots of handling and socialization. Of course I also wanted my puppy to begin life with impeccable care. A QUALITY, well-bred puppy was also non-negotiable for me. I'm not interested in any kind of showing or competition, I just wanted a very well-bred, healthy, conformationally-correct, well-socialized puppy. And boy did I hit the jackpot with Sweet As Pie Doxies and Julie Anderson! She and her home set-up were exactly what I was searching for and the quality of her pups (and parents) are stunning examples of the breed. I found Julie through Good Dog and she was so helpful and forthcoming! She responds to your messages super fast, is extremely knowledgeable, and shared photos and videos of my little "Wally" for the few weeks between paying the deposit and picking him up. She even measured him for me so I could pre-order some supplies/clothes for him. I am thrilled with my puppy! My veterinarian even commented at our first visit that his quality was exceptional. He's also very smart and is doing so well with his early training. I have already referred a couple of Dachshund-lover friends of mine to Julie when they are next searching for a puppy. I simply cannot recommend Julie highly enough. Five-stars just doesn't come close. Thank you, Julie and Mike! Wally says "hi!" *****

The process of finding a breeder I could trust was a difficult one for me. It seemed the more information I learned and the more breeders I looked into only made it more difficult to decide. That being said when I reached out to Julie I was especially hopeful because I instantly had my eyes on River. Julie was quick to respond and was able to do a video call the same night so that I could see both the mom and the puppies. The video call gave me the confidence to put down a deposit and from there it was smooth sailing. Julie provided consistent updates on River's progress and growth making the whole waiting process much less stressful and more fun. Whenever I reached out with a question or concern Julie responded within a couple of hours and was more than willing to provide answers, documentation, and advice. What people probably care about most is the health and quality of the puppies, I am pleased to report that my pup River(Frankie) is doing great. River has received consistently high praise from her vets in terms of her breeding quality, growth, and attitude. There really isn't anything I would change about the process. Very much appreciate Julie.
