I'm April H., the breeder behind Sweet Home Alabama Dachshunds located in Andalusia, AL. The foundation of our breeding program starts with raising healthy and well-loved dogs. We aim to pass the same happiness of owning a dog to our buyers.
Q. & A. with April
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding miniature Dachshunds over 15 years ago because I absolutely love this breed and think everybody should have the experience of having a dachshund in their life.
What makes your program special?
I carefully select the breeding dogs to pass on good temperament first and to have beautiful colors and confirmation. When I have a litter, my family members, including my nieces and nephews all want to come see the new babies and visit them. By the time they are ready to go to their new forever homes, they are very socialized and have developed confidence.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald, red, chocolate, fawn (isabella), chocolate and tan, blue and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
