I'm Ginger H., the breeder behind Texas Trace Boykins located in Hempstead, TX. In breeding Boykin Spaniels & only Boykin Spaniels since late 1990's, our goal is to improve the conformation, temperament & preserve the hunting instincts. We love our Boykins and hunt with most. Boykins are inteklligent-versatile family dogs that hunt or do whatever makes you both Happy!

What makes your program special?
The care and attention we give to each litter. Exposure to people, crates, cats, gunshot, bird wings etc., pools and many other items to get them ready for a new home. Our puppies are whistle recall trained, and doggie door trained before they go home at 8 weeks!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
Getting a puppy from Ginger
Ginger has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Ginger partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.
“We match temperament and hunt drive with our client profiles. That process begins around 7.5 weeks of age when their personalities develop. Not all puppies go to hunters, but they are all prepped to hunt.”

“Health guarantee, AKC Reunite microchip lifetime registration, first round of vaccines, Puppy Go-Home Care Package, AKC Registration. Deposits are applied to the purchase and may be refunded, less the deposit, if the puppy is returned within a week of pick-up. No one can jump ahead in line, but you may pass if timing not right.”

Parent health testing
Excellent level
Texas Trace Boykins reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boykin Spaniels.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
