Meet the breeder

I'm Ruth F., the breeder behind The Dachshund Den located in Las Cruces, NM. Starting in my childhood with my mom's absolute love for Dachshunds that spilled over to me! I was raised on a ranch and spent years caring for animals with guidance from my parents. My dachshunds are in home raised and exposed and loved on my many, including 7 grandkiddies.

Q. & A. with Ruth

  • Why did you start breeding?

18 1/2 years later after my Reggy passed I decided I wanted to help continue this amazing breed and start my own proper breeding program with the help of my daughter that has been breeding amazing minis for years. The name The Dachshund Den is loving memory of my first Dachshund Reggy. I was always sewing him Dachshund Dens to burrow in.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program will start in 2026. Our girls are still growing and need time <3 . We are small micro kennel with focus on each and every one of them individually, loved and spoiled. All our Dachshunds are in home raised, AKC and genetically tested with no line breeding. Our focus is on providing families with happy, healthy, vaccinated, well rounded Dachshunds with great personalities.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, brindle, chocolate and tan, black and tan, blue and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
