I'm Laura W., the breeder behind The Defender Farm located in Harvard, IL. We are experienced breeders, and we take our role seriously. We keep a variety of factors in mind when choosing dogs to breed, including health, temperament, pedigree, and complementary traits, so that puppies can inherit the best of both parents. We breed to help ensure the future of the Doberman.

What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our French Bulldog puppies include tricolors and blue. Doberman Pinscher puppies include black and rust and red and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Gloria is a female Doberman Pinscher. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Laura decided to make her part of their program. Laura has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Precious little miss. Jolee is as cute as a button! AKC registered and imported from Europe. Jolee has had genetic testing and DNA testing.

Yara is 1/2 European bloodline, 1/2 American. She has been tested for DCM, VWD, full blood panel, thyroid and certified hips through OFA. She is Titled through AKC for CGC. She is a great loving member of our family.

Cyrus was imported directly to us from Europe. He is 100% European bloodline. Cyrus has been health and genetic tested for Vwd, DCM, complete blood panel, thyroid. He is titled with AKC. He is a great goofy guy. Love this boy.

The Defender Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Doberman Pinschers.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
