I'm Brisa V., the breeder behind The Graceful Dachshund Kennel located in Merced, CA. All of our Dachshunds are bred, raised, and loved indoors to produce happy, healthy pets and breeding quality dachshunds for those seeking the best family companion and breeding quality for their programs. Dachshunds are our passion, and we can't imagine spending our lives without them. We are dedicated towards achieving excellence and healthy family pets, and we are always working to further our education so that we can continue to improve our breeding program.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I started getting into breeding when I was a teenager. My parents bred boxers, that’s how I grew my love for breeding. I bred poodles for about 2 years and then started my breeding program with dachshunds.

  • What makes your program special?

    We breed to better the breed , which involves health testing , health exams and ofa’s for our breeding dogs . The well being of our dogs is always the main priority.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, red, chocolate, black and tan, chocolate and cream, and black and cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $4,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Brisa was very communicative! She updated me weekly (if not more) on my puppy as she was growing. I received weekly pictures of my puppy Karma. Karma was already used to going potty on puppy pads too! She answered any questions or concerns I had promptly. Karma came to me well socialized and healthy. She was up go date on vaccines and I received her AKC papers really quickly. Brisa's puppies are raised as part of the family and the quality and health of the breed is definitely a priority! Will return to Brisa!!! Highly recommend!
