I'm Chasney T., the breeder behind Thomas’ K9 House located in Hawkinsville, GA. Welcome to Thomas' K9 House where we strive to produce quality, loving, and beautiful dogs and puppies. We are a small hobby breeder that specializes in two breeds, the loyal German Shepherd and the spunky Miniature Dachshunds. Our goals are to provide families with loving, family-oriented, protective companions for years to come, secondly to produce quality, healthy puppies and pedigree lines. We first started with the beautiful German Shepherd breed back in 2001, specializing in the West German show line that would not make not only excellent protective and service dogs but lifelong companions no matter the residence. This breed is the best large breed that we have ever had the chance in owning and we want to share that joy with families around the world. Today, we have added the miniature dachshunds to the mix, these small dogs provide nothings but happiness and spunk in our hearts and we want to continue providing that. Our German Shepherds are AKC registered, where we test all of our breeding dogs and want nothing but the pure best. Our dachshunds will be registered under CKC and AKC registration. We will typically produce a litter once or twice a year. We focus more on their health and well being first and foremost, they are our companions first before anything, we will never rush a pregnancy or produce back to back litters because our dams and sires are like our children and we take great pride and pleasure in raising them.
Q. & A. with Chasney
Why did you start breeding?
I decided to take on my father's breeding program with German Shepherds due to the extensive knowledge of the breed and with the history of being raised around these beauties since a baby I wanted to take the next big step. My father started breeding German Shepherds back in 2001, as I grew older it became hard for him to do it by himself and I made the choice to step in and take on the role of this program and to lead it in the right direction to become successful and to bring back the history within the breed. I recently added the miniature dachshunds to the program back in 2019. I fell in love with this breed at first site. I began extensive research of this breed and I knew I had to add this beautiful, most loving small breed to the mix. They are special small dogs with tons of personality and I just could not say no. Both breeds are my heart and soul and as I continue down this path I would like to spread that feeling worldwide.
What makes your program special?
What makes my breeding program special to me is the time taken to selectively choose an individual puppy that may become part of my program to better the genetic diversity, health, and temperament of the specific breed. The goal to provide and educate new owners on the history and understanding of a breed is extremely important to me. Being a part of the veterinary field, I have come across numerous stereotypes for both the German Shepherd and the dachshund. I choose to make a difference by showing, educating, and helping as many as I can and to hopefully one day change the stereotypes from a negative aspect into a positive one.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our German Shepherd puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Dachshund puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
