Meet the breeder

I'm Amber W., the breeder behind Three16 Ranch located in Owenton, KY. The two most important things we can do as a breeder is to raise healthy, well rounded dogs and to find them the best suitable homes. We certainly do not take the tasks lightly. The first step for success starts in the whelping pen. Puppies are raised using Puppy Culture & early neurological stimulation which is the best start for helping a puppy become trainable, healthy, socialized and well rounded. Border collies from Three16 Ranch have gone on to be excellent companions who enjoy an active lifestyle with their families.

Q. & A. with Amber

  • Why did you start breeding?

The love we discovered for Border Collies started with Mable. When we realized what an excellent dog border collies are, I just knew that I wanted to be part of sharing that with others.
  • What makes your program special?

I would say what sets our breeding program apart from others is our WHY. The reason WHY we are breeding is to help others add that special member to their family. We truly care about setting your puppy up for success in their new homes. If you don't know what that "melt your heart" connection feels like with a dog, I hope we can help make that happen.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and white, blue merle, red merle, and white and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Highly recommend Amber. All the reviews I read and you’ve read are true. She loves her dogs & her puppies. Her dogs live inside with her and she trains the pups. Our Roy impressed us from day one. Thank you Amber!

Amber was so easy to work with and very professional. She clearly knows a lot about the breed. Even after we brought our puppy home, she’s been super helpful and friendly. She’s always willing to give advice when you’re struggling with something (potty training in our case), which we really appreciated. Amber is a great person, and I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a new furry companion!

She’s extremely knowledgeable on what she’s doing and truly care for each one of the puppies, which made me feel very safe and confident from the start in choosing her as the breeder. She’s very helpful and answers to any of my questions quickly. She’s always checking in and making sure my puppy is happy and settling in well after I brought her home, that says a lot about how much she cares. I trust and recommend Amber and Three16 Ranch!

Working with Amber at Three16 Ranch was truly an amazing experience from start to finish. She is incredibly knowledgeable, responsible, and clearly loves her dogs deeply. You can tell this is not just breeding for her — she genuinely cares about each puppy and where they go. She took the time to answer all my questions, stayed in touch, and made sure I felt confident and prepared before bringing my puppy home. When we picked him up, it was obvious how attached she is to her puppies — she even got emotional saying goodbye, which says so much about the love and care they receive there. He is healthy, well-socialized, and has such a wonderful temperament. You can really see the quality and dedication behind her program. I 100% recommend Amber to anyone looking for a Border Collie from a breeder who is ethical, attentive, and truly invested in her puppies’ futures. I’m so grateful we found her.
