Q. & A. with Andrea

  • Why did you start breeding?

Raising healthy performance and working Border Collies has been the inspiration behind our family-run kennel. Our dogs work right alongside us on our small family farm and then come inside at the end of the day as members of our household. We want to share with others the wonders of owning a Border Collie.
  • What makes your program special?

As responsible breeders, we will always maintain ethical breeding practices, including breed-specific health testing for our dogs and breeding for specific traits. Our dogs are part of our family, as well as working farm dogs. We will strive to place all our puppies in homes where they will be loved, cherished, and allowed to live very active Border Collie lifestyles.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are white and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Andrea is a dream to work with. She's an extraordinary human being, and it shines through in the way she cares for her Border Collies. She got Puppy 3's life off to the best possible start. We were impressed with the way she went the extra mile in arranging for Puppy to travel by air cargo to Fairbanks, and everything she did to make sure his transition to his new family went smoothly. She created a group chat so owners of Puppy's littermates could keep in touch, and she's reached out with superb tips after the sale to make sure Puppy was doing all right. I give her an enthusiastic two thumbs up for fantastic service. We love Puppy--in less than two weeks, he's become an indispensable part of our family. I think our two Maine Coon cats would also agree. People say that herding cats is an impossible job, but our Puppy 3 is up to the task.

I am so glad I purchased the little guy Hunter from Andrea. He’s a perfect fit and he and Mishka are getting along great. Mishka is enjoying having Hunter to play with. She’s like a puppy again.

We loved working with Andrea and her family. The puppies were obviously well cared for and loved. And being able to visit with Belle before she came to her new home really helped us bond. Andrea is a great breeder, very knowledgeable, and she provided an incredibly helpful puppy kit on go home day. We are loving having Belle join our family and are excited to see the great dog she becomes.

Andrea really went above and beyond through the whole process. I love that she really cares about finding the puppies the very best home, including vetting me as an owner (not just me vetting her), and really taking the time to assess each puppies personality to match each family. She answered every single question I had, sent lots of updates with pictures and personal touches, and included a packet of info at pickup on how to best prepare and care for my new companion. I can truly tell she really cares. She worked so hard to socialize these puppies and provide the very best enrichment. She was so incredibly knowledgeable and checked all my boxes of an ethical and caring breeder. This won't be my only puppy from her, I can already tell! I highly recommend Trailblazers!! I have beyond fallen in love with Patsy. She was the perfect pick for me and am so excited to see her potential. Thank you, Andrea!!
