I'm Brooke S., the breeder behind Trailside Aussies located in Lenharstville, PA. All of our puppies are bred, raised, and loved indoors to produce happy, healthy pets that conform to the Aussie standards. We are a small, in-home breeding program where we prioritize giving each dog and puppy the best care that we can. We raise each puppy on the “Puppy Culture” program to assure they go to their new homes having the foundation they need to be the best family, show or working Aussie. We cherish all of our animals and are excited to share the love of this breed with other individuals and families!

Oakley, mom
Australian Shepherd
About Oakley
Oakley resides with her brother Dasher from a previous litter and her Uncle Meeko. She gets along great with dogs, cats, children and people. She is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She is a very active Aussie and her happy place is on the mountain running all the trails with all her other 4 legged friends. She comes from a champion bloodline. She had preliminary tests done through OFA and is listed with excellent hips, normal elbows, eyes and had a clear DNA panel. She was also tested for brucellosis and was negative. She is going to produce some beautiful pups! Oakley is registered through AKC and recently earned her Bronze and Silver FITDOG titles. She is on her way to earning Gold.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Trailside Aussies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Profile, Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
