Meet the breeder

I'm Abigail G., the breeder behind Trailside Mini Aussies located in Harrisonville, MO. Our health-tested AKC/ASDR Miniature American Shepherds and intentionally bred Aussiechons are raised as family. With a degree in Animal Science, I use Puppy Culture to build confident, adaptable companions suited for farm life or family life. Puppies go home vet-checked, microchipped, and backed by lifetime support.

Q. & A. with Abigail

  • Why did you start breeding?

Dog breeding has been in my family for generations, so I always knew it was something I’d do one day. My work in shelters, vet care, and training showed me how important responsible breeding and early socialization are. Trailside Mini Aussies was founded to combine family tradition with a modern, ethical, science-based approach.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are family first — they live in our home, spend days in large, enriched yards, and sleep inside at night. Puppies are raised with Puppy Culture for confidence and adaptability. We provide health-tested parents, vet care, microchips, a full puppy guide, lifelong support, and a no-questions-asked return policy.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include tiny and miniature sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Abigail

Abigail has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Abigail partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“Our goal is to place every puppy in the home where they will thrive for their entire life. Because of that, our matching process is a balance between family preferences and temperament-based matching. Families join the wait-list based on approved application and deposit, and that order determines who gets to choose first when it is time for puppy selections. We absolutely understand that many families have preferences for color or gender, and we do our best to honor those preferences whenever possible. If having a specific color or gender is very important to you, the best way to increase your chances is to secure a spot near the top of the wait-list, since earlier picks naturally have more options available. As the puppies grow, we spend several weeks observing their temperaments, energy levels, confidence, and personalities. Because the puppies are raised in our home with daily handling, enrichment, and exposure to normal household life, we get to know them very well. Around 6–7 weeks of age, I begin working with families to help guide the final match based on both their preferences and the puppy’s personality. My goal is always to help families choose the puppy that will fit best with their: • lifestyle • activity level • training goals • household environment (children, other pets, farm vs. city living) For example, a very driven puppy may be perfect for someone interested in dog sports or an active working lifestyle, while a calmer puppy may be better suited for a snuggly companion home. Ultimately, this approach helps ensure that both the puppy and the family are set up for long-term success, which is always our top priority. 🐾”

Our experience with Abigail has been seamless. From start to finish, she was incredibly professional and communicative; from the initial communication to arranging pick up to paying securely. I loved that she had a photo album that she updated regularly, which allowed me to see my pup all the time without having to bother her! It was clear she genuinely cared for our puppy and their dogs. I'm so glad I found Abigail through Good Dog, and couldn't be happier with our Sapphire!!! We're beyond grateful for her help and would HIGHLY recommend Abigail for anyone looking for a reliable breeder. THANK YOU ABIGAIL!!!!

Abigail has made my dream of having a miniature Australian Shepherd come true ❤️‍🔥🙏❤️‍🔥 I looked for so long to find the perfect dog & I found him at Trailside Mini Aussies❣️ I had very specific needs for my perfect little guy & she directed me right to him. From the moment I saw him I knew that he was my little guy. Abigail made sure that we got regular updates on his progress & I received many photos & videos of him as he was growing in the first several weeks of his life. She also made sure that we received lots of good information of how to properly prepare for a little puppy. Anytime I had a question or concern Abigail responded with genuine feedback & was very supportive throughout the whole process. Our little fella is so well rounded & happy & healthy!! I can genuinely say that he was raised with real love & support!! He is already well on his way to being potty trained & he is not socially awkward around other people or animals because I saw in my updates that she continuously exposed them to the many new & different environments. I was a little nervous about the whole process because it is a serious & expensive decision choosing the right dog, but Abigail made the entire process pleasant & exciting. I can truly say that she genuinely cares for her dogs❣️ She has lots of experience in caring for animals & raising dogs runs in her family, so she is a natural. We are so very grateful to her for raising such a lovable & well raised little fella to be the newest member of our family❣️
