Meet the breeder

I'm Kristen B., the breeder behind Tranquil Morning Farm located in Columbia, CT. As conscientious breeders, we are proud of the loving, smart, beautiful, and sound puppies we’re able to provide for others. We built our program with care and intention in every step. We are passionate about the health and well-being of this breed, and it is our goal to provide each dog that comes from our program with a solid foundation of good health, neurological development, and loving care.

Why did you start breeding?
We had English Shepherds on the farm for many years before we decided to breed. Dusty is our reason, I felt like every farm or family needed a dog like him. I truly could say that about any of our personal English Shepherds.
What makes your program special?
We focus on working ability and temperament above all. A dog that has a drive to work and a good off switch in the home is our goal. A dog that alerts to strangers, but is willing to welcome them with a friendly demeanor as well. We love dog sports, so we also look to breed dogs that can excel in sports as well.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-colored, sable and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Kristen

Kristen has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Kristen partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“We assess our puppies to determine which puppies have potentially stronger farm working traits, dog sport traits or family dog traits. We want to be sure to place pups where they will be most successful. We want the right puppy to go to the right family.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $200 refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $1,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“All parents are fully DNA health tested and pennhip tested. Puppies go home with first vaccinations, microchip and health check by a DVM. Pups are registered with ESCR and registerable with the UKC.”

Contract & health guarantee

Kristen may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. About Olive
Olive is a sweet tempered girl who loves agility and barn hunt. She has earned her open title in barn hunt and is working on her agility skills. She is fast and accurate. She has a higher prey drive, and is learning to work around cows. She is a natural bob tail, and some of her puppies will be as well. She is black with minor white on her chest and toes.

Dusty is a purebred English Shepherd who exemplifies the versatility of the breed. He is a working farm dog, managing a sheep and poultry homestead. He is a sport dog, winning titles in agility and barn hunt. He is a family dog who loves people and especially children.

About Sadie-Jane
Sadie Jane is a clear sable and white. She is extremely smart and learns new tasks quickly, often the first time. She has been learning to use "talk buttons" to communicate. She is trained to bring my asthma inhaler if I have an episode. On the farm she helps with daily chores and moving small stock. She has titles in both Agility and Barn Hunt.

About Freya
Freya is a seal and white natural bobtail. She is a solid farm dog who can move difficult stock, find lost stock in the woods and hold them until help arrives, varmint hunter.

About Max
Max is the welcome wagon at our farm. He will bark to alert to strangers, but when I greet the strangers, he wags his tail and comes up to be pet. He is a varmint hunter on the farm, but gentle with lambs, sheep and chickens. Max loves children, car rides and walks. He has started in Barn Hunt and Agility to give him a break from farm work. He loves to give kisses, and snuggle. Perfect "off switch" for a farm dog.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
