I'm Kayla P., the breeder behind Tsuki Labradors located in Louisville, KY. My focus will always be on health, structure, workability and being true to the breed. I want the "moderate" type lab between field and bench that I feel best represents the breed's standard while still maintaining their workabilty and endurance.
Q. & A. with Kayla
Why did you start breeding?
I started getting interested in preparing for my first breeding when I started working with purebred dogs of all breeds and realizing I wanted to help contribute to bettering a breed and getting more solid temperaments and genes out into the gene pool. I fell in love with labradors after obtaining one as my service dog and that was that.
What makes your program special?
Like any good breeder; health, temperament, and breed standard are top priorities. Puppies are assessed according to temperaments and what each family is looking for so it sets both puppy and family up for success. Puppies are exposed to many sights and sounds and foundation work is done before they even leave their mom. I also offer a $30 reimbursement for any competitive titles earned!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Amai
Amai is the foundation for my program. She has confidence and a good structure that should contribute well to the lab gene pool. She picks up on what is asked very quickly and understands intelligent disobedience when working as a service dog but a quick off switch when doing Rally, Dock diving, or obedience. We are spending the next year titling and proving what I already know, that she's an amazingly smart and solid dog that will produce amazing service dogs, SAR dogs, therapy dogs, sport dogs and still have the temperament to be a house dog.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Tsuki Labradors reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test, Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Day Blindness, Achromatopsia
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
