J C H.

Breeder of Australian Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm J C H., the breeder behind Twist'n Tops Farm & Kennel located in Doswell, VA. Our puppies have the temperament to be amazing family members and the drive and trainability to do the job they were bred to do. We focus on breeding dogs that have enough working drive to keep up with our lifestyle, but also have amazing temperaments and can quickly adapt to a calm family setting.

Q. & A. with J C

  • Why did you start breeding?

My husband wanted an Aussie.... I found a breeder locally and purchased a male blue merle 22 years ago. "Cotton" turned out to be my heart dog and it was down hill from there. The loyalty and intelligence that this breed shows is contagious. I simply love the breed. I had been a breeder for 20 years and all of my original dogs are gone now. I lost my last dog from the originating bloodlines last year at the age of 17. So, with new bloodlines and 2 wonderful dogs that are perfect examples of their breed I decided to start breeding Australian Shepherds again.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are a daily part of everything we do. They are part of our family and not just for breeding. Our puppies are raised inside of our home and they are exposed to all of the wonders of a horse farm along with 4 grand children to keep them busy!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red merle, blue merle, and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
