I'm Melina L., the breeder behind Under the Stars Minis located in Coldwater, MS. I’m passionate about Dachshunds and focus on raising puppies with stable temperaments, sound structure, and beautiful coats. My goal is to provide families with healthy, happy companions who embody the breed.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My journey began with my own dachshunds. I fell in love with their charm, loyalty, and intelligence, and soon became passionate about preserving the breed’s best qualities. With a background in training, I saw the importance of solid temperaments and set out to create a program rooted in health and soundness.

  • What makes your program special?

    focus on raising puppies with balanced temperaments, correct conformation, and proper coat type. My dogs are health tested, well socialized, and raised in my home as part of the family. I strive to produce dachshunds who are not only beautiful but also happy, confident, and lifelong companions.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, black, chocolate, brindle, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, blue and tan, blue and cream, black and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
