I'm Amber P., the breeder behind Underworld Australian Shepherds located in Coconut Creek, FL. Our dogs are first and foremost members of the family. They live in the house and travel everywhere with us. We strive to produce Aussies that are all-around versatile dogs who conform to the breed standard in all aspects including their temperament, structure, heath, workmanship, performance, and companionship. They make wonderful family pets, show/sport dogs, working farm dogs, and even S&R dogs.
Q. & A. with Amber
Why did you start breeding?
I initially purchased an Australian Shepherd to begin sports and dabble in showing. Shortly thereafter I truly fell in love with the breed and devoted all of my time to learning through literature, seminars, mentorship, my local kennel club, handlers, and breeders. I was fully dedicated to showcasing the versatility of my heart breed and wanted to continue preserving the Australian Shepherd.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs are before all else, loved and spoiled members of the family. Before breeding, we ensure that they are of sound mind, fully health tested to CHIC standards, and are exemplary of the breed in not only type, but can work stock as intended. Our puppies are given a solid foundation and set up for success from the start. We have a Facebook page for all of our puppy owners to stay connected.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Dentition, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 8 (NCL8), Australian Shepherd Type, D Locus (Dilute) DNA test, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Hereditary (Juvenile) Cataracts (HC; JC), Australian Shepherd Type, Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), DNA Disease Panel, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
