Valley of the Moon Labradors

Shannon V.

Breeder of Labrador Retrievers

Meet the breeder

I'm Shannon V., the breeder behind Valley of the Moon Labradors located in Santa Rosa, CA. I work hard to produce healthy, happy Labrador Retriever puppies, and I take great pride in my breeding program. I received my BS in Cynology and pursued my MD. Along the way, I fell in love with being a breeder. It's so fulfilling to have the opportunity to create companionship and love and to see the positive effect that a beloved furry companion can have on its family!

Q. & A. with Shannon

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up breeding horses which I LOVED and now that I am through medical school and residency, I found I missed the connection with animals with which I was raised. It is the balance I need. We started working with a wonderful mentor in 2013. It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others!
  • What makes your program special?

After we homed our first litter, our customers had training questions. We decided that it was incumbent upon us to be able to guide our families in the upbringing of their puppy. We found Bergin University! We sent my husband back to school to earn a BS in Cynology. A lot of sacrifices were made to do this but we feel like that was the BEST decision we ever made for our program and the puppies we produce!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
