Meet the breeder

I'm Sara R., the breeder behind Walnut Tree Bernedoodles located in Banner Elk, NC. Having dogs in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! We are dog lovers through and through! Our pups are such an important part of our lives, and we can’t imagine being without them. It’s an amazing experience as breeders to provide others with puppies that we know will bring them the same joy!

Q. & A. with Sara

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always loved dogs, when my daughter graduated from college she asked for a poodle because of allergies. I got her one but she decided she couldn’t handle a puppy just yet. That poodle puppy started it all and is the love of my life and the best dog I have ever owned. Why not share her great temperament, intelligence and hypoallergenic coat?
  • What makes your program special?

We believe that each puppy has a purpose and we pray that each puppy finds their perfect family. We do our very best to give our puppies the best start in life by using puppy culture and BAB programs. Our breeding dogs are not kept in kennels, we have a large home and keep them all inside and take them on daily walks through the woods 26 acres. They are spoiled. Our guardian homes spoil them also.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies include mini, medium, and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Bernedoodle puppies include sable, black, black and white, tri-color, phantom, blue merle, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Miss Baby Oreo Snuggles Downs is right at home. Sara is amazing! She drove to meet us because it had snowed. Very thorough with information and willingness to help if we had questions. What a pure joy Miss Baby Oreo Snugglebutts Downs is and how she has helped me recover from open heart surgery, ect…. She just fits in our family perfect. I will say one thing, I’m jealous, she acts like she love everyone the same. With one exception my Grandson Wyatt. We all know who Baby Oreos favorite is, Wyatt! I’m just chopped liver till she snuggles with me sleeping! Thank you Sara. It was meant to be as you said.
