Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Wandering Acres Ranch located in Chehalis, WA. Welcome to Wandering Acres Ranch, LLC! We breed Australian Shepherds. Our goal is to have well-rounded family dogs, working dogs, and dogs that do well in the show ring.

Q. & A. with Amanda and Joel

  • Why did you start breeding?

We got into breeding after giving it years of thought. Being a horse trainer we would see aussie's all the time and a lot of times it wasn't what the breed was supposed to be like. We wanted to change that. We constantly are tweaking things in our program and working to better our program and the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

With Aussies, there are different drive levels: low-high. We have all levels here, but even with our high drive dogs, they have an off switch! Our dogs are great with working all day on our farm or they are happy to sleep and watch movies. We are a Washington State licensed and inspected kennel (yes, our animals still come in the house and play.) As well as an AKC Bred with Heart Breeder.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
